Honduras Jose Romero

Jose was 20 years old when he started working in coffee and now owns 1 hectare of land.  Jose is a father of two where his daughter is blind and attends university, and his son is deaf and mute.  

Coffee is their most important crop but the proceeds alone are not enough for Joses’ family of four, let alone supporting a family with disabilities and university expenses. To help with expenses, Jose and his family also grow tomatoes. An additional source of income is micro-lots, which is what Jose is focusing on, but income is not his only drive as coffee provides a source of pride and pleasure.
